Safety

Suffolk New College takes your safety very seriously. It is important that you understand how to stay safe during your time here so that you can have an enjoyable time.

What is PREVENT?

PREVENT is an initiative designed to provide practical help and guidance to the public in order to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

What does PREVENT do?

  • Responds to the ideological challenge we face from terrorism and aspects of extremism, and the threat we face from those who promote these views.
  • Provides practical help to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure they are given appropriate advice and support.
  • Works with a wide range of sectors (including education, criminal justice, faith, charities, online and health) where there are risks of radicalisation that we need to deal with.

A helpful guide

You may be in a position to identify and support someone who may be vulnerable to becoming involved in extremism or terrorism. See some of the signs here…

How does it affect me?

You have all explored "County Lines" in your PD sessions, do you know anyone who could be being exploited in order to sell or traffic drugs in the Ipswich Area? PREVENT should be used in these cases too. Get facts about county lines here.
